Mamabird is a product of Mama's Organic Kitchen Inc., a company registered in Canada. We are the organisation responsible for the information described here.
Person in charge of the protection of personal information:
Privacy Officer, Mama's Organic Kitchen Inc.
mamabird@mamasorganickitchen.com
Quebec's Law 25 requires us to publish the title and contact details of the person responsible for privacy. That is the role above, and mail to that address reaches them.
Mamabird is available as a web app at getmamabird.com and as an app from the App Store and Google Play. This policy covers both. Where something applies to only one version, we say so.
Mamabird is made for adults. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. The information you give us is about a child, but it is given to us by you, an adult.
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| Your baby's first name | So cards read naturally rather than saying "your baby" |
| Your baby's date of birth | This is the whole engine. It decides which card you get and on what day |
| Your baby's sex or pronouns, if you give them | Optional. Wording only |
| Your time zone | So notifications arrive at the right hour where you actually are |
| An account ID | A random code created automatically when you start using Mamabird. It links your baby's details to your device. It is not your name or email |
| Your email address, if you choose to add one | Optional. Lets you keep your account when you change phones. We sign you in with a one-time link, so there is no password |
| Your answers on check-ins, if you give them | Optional. If you tap "yes" or "not yet" on a check-in, we keep that answer so the app can show it back to you. In the web app it stays on your phone. In the App Store and Google Play versions it is also saved to our database |
| Your region, as one word (Canada, US or other) | App Store and Google Play versions only. Taken from your phone's region setting, so the few cards that differ by country show the right version. Your location is not collected |
| A notification address for your device | A long anonymous string issued by Apple or Google. It lets us send a notification to your phone |
| Which cards we have sent you | So you are never sent the same one twice |
| How the app is used, and crash reports | App Store and Google Play versions only. Which screens and cards are opened, plus technical details when the app crashes, such as device model and operating system version. We use this to fix problems and to see which cards are useful. It is not linked to your name or email |
We use a small number of service providers. They process information only to provide their service to us, and they are not allowed to use it for their own purposes.
Some of these providers are outside Quebec and outside Canada, so your information may be processed in other countries, including the United States. Before using any provider outside Quebec, we assess whether your information will be adequately protected, as Quebec's Law 25 requires.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.
Mamabird does not use any artificial intelligence service to process your information. The content library is written in advance and stored as fixed text. Nothing about you or your baby is sent to any model. If that ever changes, we will update this policy and ask you first.
Some cards link to other websites, such as health organisations or shops. When you follow a link you leave Mamabird, and that website's own privacy policy applies. We do not send them any information about you or your baby. If a link is to a product, we may earn a commission if you buy something, and we say so next to the link.
Your baby's details, your account and your answers are kept until you delete them.
App usage information and crash reports are kept for up to 14 months and then deleted automatically.
If a device stops accepting notifications, usually because the app was removed, we stop sending to it. Its notification address is removed when you delete your information, or when you ask us to.
Everything, from inside the app: tap the settings icon at the top of the Today screen and choose Delete everything. That erases your account, your baby's details, your email if you added one, your answers, your settings, your device's notification address, and the record of what has been sent to you. It happens immediately and cannot be undone. Any copy in our backups is removed within 30 days.
By email, or just some of it: write to mamabird@mamasorganickitchen.com. We will act on your request within 30 days.
Full details are on our deletion page.
Under Canadian privacy law, including PIPEDA and Quebec's Law 25, you have the right to:
Write to us at the address above and we will respond within 30 days.
We know this app is about a child. We have deliberately kept what we hold to the minimum that makes the product work: a first name and a date of birth, given to us by a parent, plus any optional answers the parent chooses to save. We do not collect anything from a child, we do not let a child use the app, and we do not build a profile of any child.
If information is lost or exposed in a way that could cause you real harm, we will notify you and the relevant privacy authority, as Canadian law requires. We keep an internal record of any such incident.
If we change anything that matters, we will update the date at the top and tell you inside the app. We will not quietly start collecting something new.
